FAQs

What can I expect during my first visit?

Before we begin your scan at First Cherished Moments, we will require you to sign a waiver highlighting the purpose of an elective ultrasound. This form must be completed in order to begin the scan, and will be applied to all scans you receive at First Cherished Moments during your pregnancy.

Is 3D/4D ultrasound a safe option for me and my baby?

Our ultrasound machine works in the same way as the machines at your typical OB/GYN office. Because ultrasound uses sound waves instead of radiation, it does not pose any danger to you or your baby.

What is the difference between a 3D ultrasound and a 4D ultrasound?

A 3D ultrasound produces a still, yet detailed image of your baby. A 4D ultrasound produces the same image, but adds the element of movement creating a live video of your baby. A 4D ultrasound is essentially just a “moving” 3D!

Do you accept insurance?

No, we do not accept insurance as this is an elective procedure. This ultrasound is strictly for entertainment purposes only.

When should I come in to get the best 3D/4D ultrasound images?

This all depends on what you would like to see during your appointment. Most clients elect to come in twice; once early on in the pregnancy to see the baby as a whole, and again later in the pregnancy to obtain a more detailed view of their baby’s face. You can use the following guide to help you determine when you’d like to see your baby;

10-14 weeks: Provides an early view of your pregnancy in which we can see the baby as a whole

15-24 weeks: Baby has grown, but we can still obtain good quality images. This is a great time to see your baby move around and kick

25-30 weeks: Baby’s face has become more defined, providing a better look at your baby’s features

31-36 weeks: Baby has developed more fat to their face and now has chubby cheeks! This will provide the most detailed look at your baby

What happens if we cannot see the baby’s face?

Not to worry, this happens often! Our number one priority is to provide you with quality ultrasound photos. If we are unable to see your baby’s face, we invite you back within 14 days for a follow-up appointment where we will rescan you free of charge. The need for a return visit is often due to factors outside of our control such as the baby’s position, the location of your placenta, the amount of amniotic fluid surrounding your baby, and overall fetal environment. We will try our best to provide you with memorable ultrasound photos, but every baby scans differently.

How accurate is the gender determination?

Starting at 16 weeks, we can determine the gender of your baby with high accuracy. However, things like the baby’s position and maternal body habitus can make it more difficult to distinguish the gender. We will try our best to obtain the most accurate images, however, without genetic testing, we cannot guarantee the gender with 100% accuracy.

How long will my visit be?

Depending on the package you select, your session will last between 15-25 minutes from start to finish. However, it is always best to plan on spending up to 30 minutes at our studio to ensure you receive an unforgettable experience.

Am I allowed to bring visitors?

Of course! We encourage you to bring friends and family to share this unforgettable experience with you. We do, however, ask that you bring no more than four (4) guests with you due to space availability.

Do I have to wear a mask?

Masks are not required at our studio, however, you are welcome to wear a mask if you would like. We are also able to put a mask on at your request. We do ask that you reschedule your appointment if you are experiencing any cold or flu symptoms.

How do I pay for my ultrasound?

We accept major credit/debit cards as well as cash. A $50 holding fee will be required upon scheduling your ultrasound. This will go toward the total cost of your service. We do require that you pay the holding fee online through our scheduling link, however, the remaining balance will be paid in person at the end of your scan.

Will my doctor be contacted regarding this ultrasound?

Your doctor will not be contacted prior to, or after your elective ultrasound at our studio. If we do see something of concern during your scan, you will be encouraged to contact your provider. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this procedure, you should talk with your doctor.

If I am overweight, will I be able to obtain clear ultrasound images?

If you are overweight, you should not be afraid to come in for an elective ultrasound. We do recommend that you wait until around 25 weeks gestation in order to give the baby time to grow. However, aside from the factors out of our control, there is no reason you should not be able to obtain great images!
